BlackBerry today teamed up with Samsung to announce a new tablet — the SecuTABLET — which is based on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5. The tablet is not meant for normal consumers, and BlackBerry is squarely focusing on enterprise market with it. The devices relies heavily on the encryption technology of Secusmart — a company that BlackBerry had acquired last year. Additionally, IBM is providing a “secure app wrapping technology” for the SecuTABLET, and will be assisting enterprise customers in deploying Secusmart in their organizations. The tablet is currently being tested by the German Federal Office for Information Security for the German VS-NfD security rating. As for the specs, the SecuTABLET comes with a 10.5-inch Super-AMOLED display with a 2560*1600 resolution, an octa-core Exynos 5420 chip, 3GB RAM, 8MP/2.1MP camera on the rear and front respectively and more. The SecuTABLET will hit the retail stores in the United States in summer later this year.
