More than three months after it released Lollipop, Google has started rolling out the update for its budget oriented Android One smartphones in India. As confirmed by Google’s +Caesar Sengupta, the update is currently being rolled out to a small number of Android One users in India. The update will be rolled out gradually so every week more Android One users will get the OTA update notification on their handset. If you are impatient, you can keep your handset connected to Wi-Fi to increase your chances of receiving the update. Android One users are also entitled to free OTA downloads over mobile data, so don’t worry about burning through your data pack when you do get the OTA update notification on your handset. Caesar, however, did not make it clear if Google is rolling out Android 5.0 or Android 5.1 build of Lollipop for the Android One handsets in India. Earlier this month, Google had launched its Android One program in Philippines with the devices running Android 5.1 out of the box.
